IWA Mid-South World Heavyweight Title Match - Drake's Last Chance At Title As Long As Dingo is Champion
Dingo vs. Drake Younger
Drake has had a few chances at taking the title away from Dingo but Dingo had always found a way to hang on and pull out a victory...until Lethal Lottery when the match ended with a double pin. Drake thinks he is the uncrowned champion since he won the TPI and feels like the title should have been defended in the tournament like it has been in years past. Dingo feels slighted that Drake thinks he would have won the tournament if Dingo had remained instead of bowing out to rid the IWA of Jaysin Strife. This will be Drake's last chance at Dingo. If Drake loses, he can't get another title shot as long as Dingo remains the IWA Mid-South World Heavyweight Champion. This is sure to be one hell of a donnybrook just like the other battles between these two with an added sense of desperation coming from Drake knowing that it is his last chance. Can Dingo do the same to Drake that he did to Strife or will Dingo finally fall prey to one of his predators?
IWA Mid-South World Light Heavyweight Title Match
Jason Hades vs. Troy Walters
Jason Hades has been a fighting champion that has accepted all challenges made to him. Troy Walters issued a challenge and Hades basically laughed in his face. It seems to be a recurring trend for Hades because he did the same to Ryan Phoenix in Bellevue. Walters was offended but what Jason said was basically true. He does have a lot of victories over Troy around the Midwest. Troy definitely has the talent and the motivation to present a serious challenge to Hades. Will Hades underestimate Walters this time? Will Hades let his success go to his head? Will Walters have a foolproof game plan going on? We'll find out on Friday night!
First Round Matches for the Revolution Strong Style Tournament

Trevor Murdock vs. D.J. Hyde

Plus the return to IWA of Bill the Butcher!!!!!

Autumn Armaggedon Results from Bellevue, IL
on Nov 29, 2008,
Here are the results from our debut show in Bellevue, IL. Crowd was a little bigger than recent Joliet shows but they were the loudest crowd I've seen in quite some time. They were clapping, cheering, stomping their feet and making noise almost the whole night.
We return to Bellevue on Friday night, January 2nd. More details on that show later in this writeup.
1. Egotistico Fantastico def. Dustin Rayz. Ego was very popular with the crowd and definitely kicked the night off on the right foot. Ego wins with the springboard moonsault.
2. Marshe Rockett w/ C Red def. Ryan Phoenix. The crowd was not as pro Soul Touchaz as the Chicagoland crowd but Ryan Phoenix was a hometown kid. Marshe wins with the Ace Crusher.
3. Trauma w/ C Red def. Bull Schmitt. Bull was a tall big man that was a friend of Trevor Murdock. I'm guessing someone from the St. Louis area might be able to give more information on him. Trauma wins with a DVD.
4. The Michigan Militia (Jeff Brooks & Brian Skyline) def. Michael Elgin & Kris Chambers. Chambers takes a beating for most of the match and finally makes the tag to Elgin. Elgin comes in and cleans house. Chambers then turns on his partner and drops Elgin with a superkick and pulls the Militia on top for the pin. Chambers immediately grabs the mic and says that Elgin "sold out" Canada by getting Sami Callihan as a tag partner at Double Death. He says that no one from Canada including Ash or "even Bret Hart" will ever team with Elgin again due to his turning his back on the Canadian roots.
5. Sami Callihan def. Mickie Knuckles. Sami comes out pissed off that he doesn't get a title shot due to Dingo being injured and unable to make it to the show. He challenges anyone to come to the ring and get punched in the face if they think they are bad enough to take him. Mickie answers the challenge. Sami says that he'll treat her like he did her friend LuFisto or even better yet like he did her mentor, Ian Rotten. The fight is on and Mickie took a beating in this match. She dished it right back out but I think if she had a bit more recovery time from the broken leg that she could have put up a better fight. Sami wins with a Saitoplex.
6. Michael Elgin goes to a no contest with Kris Chambers. Michael Elgin (probably the most popular guy on the show with the fans) comes to the ring and grabs the microphone and calls out Chambers. Chambers comes to the ringside area and Elgin topes thru the ropes onto Chambers and the fight is on. Corey Mason runs out and saves Chambers from sure death or at least injury at the rate it was going. The Michigan Militia then run out and form an alliance with Chambers and Mason and the four men stomp a mudhole in Michael Elgin. The Michigan Militia then end their alliance and destroy Chambers and Mason and leave them laying too.
Announced for Jan 2 - Grits N Gravy vs. Michigan Militia vs. Sex, Drugs & Wrestling in a TLC match
7. Jason Hades def. Prince Mustafa Ali, Sal Thomaselli & Jake Crist in a 4 way elimination match to retain the IWA World Light Heavyweight Title. Prince Ali was very sneaky in this match. Sal leveled Crist with a double bounce of the ropes lariat. Ali ditched Sal from behind and jumped on Crist to eliminate him first. Hades was then able to lay out Sal but Ali ditched Hades from behind to jump on Sal and get the pin. It then came down to Hades vs. Ali and Hades wins with a Killswitch.
Ryan Phoenix then comes to the ring. He challenges Hades to a title match on January 2nd "even though I've never won a match in IWA" but says that with his hometown behind him that he is a cinch to win the title. Hades accepts the challenge and informs Phoenix that he has beaten far better challengers than Phoenix and that he'll show him why on January 2nd.
So on January 2nd - Jason Hades vs. Ryan Phoenix for the IWA Mid-South World Light Heavyweight Title
8. Trevor Murdock def. Ian Rotten. Trevor gets on the microphone before the match and announces that he is a sports entertainer now...a 3 time former World Tag Team Champion sports entertainer at that. He says that there will be no fighting, no brawling in the crowd, no weapons...just straight up wrestling. That lasted for about the first 3 minutes of the match before it went to the floor and the fight was on. Ian was busted open slightly before the action returned to the ring. Murdock wins with a bulldog off the ropes onto an opened up chair in the middle of the ring.
Ian and Trevor trade insults and threats on the microphone leading to:
January 2nd - Ian Rotten vs. Trevor Murdock - Hardcore Rules Match
good to see Mickie back in action. Seems like I wasn't too far off with my catching of all the Moose referances in the TNA Beautiful People segment this week..
Sounds like IWA really was able to pull out a good show last night despite a lot of no-shows from the announced card. Great to see Mickie back wrestling. I like that IWA is continuing on with the everyone against Michael Elgin angle. Seems like they have done a good job of building on this show to set up the return to Bellevue so hopefully attendance will even be higher next time. I hope the new year starts off with Drake Younger as IWA champ. I am tired of seeing Dingo with the belt and he hasn't been able to make 2 out of the last 3 shows anyhow. It really hurts a show when your champion isn't on it. Good to see Jake Crist back in IWA. No Dingo, Ricochet, Quick, Walters, Acid Jazz or Tracy Smothers from the announced card. That seems like a lot to have to make up for but from the write-up it seems IWA was able to overcome all that and put oo a good show .
2 full shows for $20 is always worth the price tag, especially shows the quality of IWA-MS.
I thought all IWA matches these days were Hardcore Rules matches. Heck, this match ended with a chair in the ring.
What does "Hardcore Rules" mean??
I'm just saying that if there is no consquences to the use of weapons in a deathmatch, then it just becomes two guys wacking each other with garbage. If it doesn't look like it hurts them, then why should we as fans get emotionally invested in the outcome of the match? If there's no sense of danger, if there's no drama, then why do you care who wins or loses? -I thought all IWA matches these days were Hardcore Rules matches. Heck, this match ended with a chair in the ring.
Well the first half to two thirds of the match was just straight up wrestling until it turned into a brawl. The stip being added onto the rematch should let Trevor know going in that he better not show up as the "sports entertainer" but as the guy ready to fight and use whatever weapon is available.
I don't expect the rematch to be 2/3rds straight up wrestling but I could be wrong. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Along those lines... is there a difference between a hardcore match and a death match? Can you call it a death match if it doesn't have light tubes and barbed wire?
