Who Is The Wrestler Who Failed For Marijuana 12+ Times?
As most of you probably know by now, a story recently surfaced regarding a number of WWE wrestlers being confronted about failing marijuana tests as officials are said to be fed up with the problem. The failures are not considered violations of the Wellness Policy, but rather, simply result in a $1,000 fine. However, a couple of wrestlers were told outright to stop using now and warned them discipline for use is going to get a lot more serious soon.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter noted one wrestler in particular as failing for pot 11 or 12 times not to mention that his push of not that long ago was stopped.
I can finally identify the wrestler in question.
According to sources backstage, the wrestler in question who failed a dozen tests for pot is Brian Kendrick, whose push has leveled off in recent weeks. Kendrick is said to be a frequent marijuana smoker who happily pays the fines to continue his habit.
Regarding WWE's recent crackdown of marijuana use, this has frustrated a number of wrestlers. Some are telling friends they will continue to smoke pot in spite of the crackdown. Others predict those recently approached by management regarding their habit will replace it with alcohol. As noted earlier, Brian Kendrick in particular has failed for pot 12 times, with his push leveling off as a result.
Amidst the story of WWE's marijuana crackdown, the Pro Wrestling Torch noted that one wrestler was let go this year as a result of his marijuana habit, at least on top of a few other things. The wrestler in question is Trevor Murdoch, who was released this past July. Murdoch is said to be a frequent marijuana smoker.
Wrestlers Using Marijuana: "Rowdy Roddy Piper was featured on my wife's favorite show TMZ this week apparently smoking some pot. Roddy's reason was essentially medical in nature as in treating his cancer but nonetheless it reminded me of the territory days in the 70's when many wrestlers would smoke pot recreationally on virtually a daily basis which seemed to act as a sedative for some of the higher strung alpha males. As the legend has it, "Hippie" Mike Boyette, who allegedly liked to smoke a joint occasionally, even had marijuana scented air freshener in his vehicle just in case he was pulled over by the police and if they smelled pot Mike would laugh and demonstrate the pot scented, air freshener. I can remember WAY back in the day when JYD's adoring fans in southern Louisiana would bring Dog grocery sacks full of pot as a show of their admiration. Ernie Ladd used to talk to JYD all the time about what the Big Cat referred to as "demon weed."
