Thinking back and traveling down memory lane, I have had a lot of wonderful experiences and opportunities. I have been witness to the birth of some really great careers. I was there for the beginnings of each of the Naptown Dragons careers. I got to see a young longhaired and mostly sane Jon Moxley . Hell, I got the opportunity to see Jimmy Jacobs before and after he adopted the furry boots of the Barbaric Berzerker. I am not taking credit here for anything except being able to witness these things.
More recently I have had opportunities to offer advice to young aspiring wrestlers and to watch as they develop their skills in the school of Roc. No, I am not interfering in their training. What I am doing is asking how things are going and offering my insight as to why some things are done a certain way. I would NEVER interfere in the training. The reason I mention this is that the story I am about to tell involves just that. None of the names have been changed because frankly the guys involved are morons.
It was before an IPW show about 8 months ago. A group of people I had never met were setting up the ring, and frankly I thought they were with Donnie the guy in charge of the Ring we use. As soon as the ring was set up, these guys and one person with stringy greasy red hair that I am still not sure if it was a guy of girl were in the ring working out and running a training session. Now remember this. I already have over $600 invested in this show just in having the ring and building set up, and this group of Marks are now running a training class and have not yet talked to Mike or myself. I am actually getting pissed off writing this. Then the person running this “ Training” session gets one of the students from the school we endorse in the ring and proceeds to show him some stuff . Wrongly I might add !! After the impromptu training session ended, this waste of good oxygen decides to introduce himself to Mike and Myself. Proper etiquette requires that you introduce and greet everyone in the building as soon as you arrive. Not giving your “ Wrestler” name either. This Raddison proceeds to shake our hands and say “ Hi, I’m Pyro” Pyro…. His parents must have really hated him. He then states that he is going to be running shows down the street from our shows, and his first show would have been on the same day as one of ours. He then starts questioning us about things that are frankly none of his business. How much we pay for this, who works cheap, just real stupid questions. He even had the audacity to ask about working for us. He and his group of wannabes stayed for the show, and this MARK wore his red patent leather wrestling boots the entire night, just screaming “ Notice Me, someone pay attention to me”
There are proper ways of doing things. This guy did everything ,EVERYTHING absolutely wrong !! I haven’t seen him since, but if I do I will gladly take his admission money and then proceed to ignore him. He never did run a show, and frankly I hope he does so I can go and heckle him. The moron would probably go to the back and proclaim what great “Heat” he got. It is guys like this who give good well run shows a bad name.
