What you are about to read involve my memories of someone very special to me. Our friendship went beyond wrestling, and to be honest when we both got more involved in wrestling our friendship did not last. I went my way, she went hers. I have a million stories I could tell, but they are mine and mine alone.
I once heard Cabana Boy state that he was living his dream, wrestling in front of 40 people at an outdoor VFW show. I thought to myself how the HELL can THIS be your dream ?? Dream bigger man !! It must not have been his dream, because to be honest I don’t think he has wrestled for 8 years .
Remembering back on wrestling training, I just have to laugh at some of my ideas. I had a close friend Kelly who went through some of those early classes with me. We would joke that we would be a pair, I would be Banjo Boy and she would be Nurse Kelly. Now to understand the character of Banjo Boy, think of Eugene in the WWE, only this was 10 years ago!! Kind of embarrassing to think I was working on a gimmick like that and now I have a son who is Autistic. Karma man, it’s a pregnant dog.
Kelly was special. I first met her while I was doing security for Kamala Jr. and we become close friends for a few years. Before I met my wife, I thought I had never felt stronger about anyone than her. Kelly had issues letting people in, and eventually we parted ways. You may remember her as The Diva, a name I gave her before the WWE was referring to their women as Diva’s . Back then it was a term for pop stars who were demanding and hard to deal with. The idea was that her character was going to be similar. She was a great manager, and became a very solid wrestler. I am proud to have known her, and to say that on the first IPW show she managed C.M. Punk. Kelly is no longer with us, and the fact that I wasn’t there for her as a friend is one of the biggest regrets in my life, because at that point in her life, she needed one in the worst way. For everyone who remembers the pregnant dogy character she portrayed I remember the spitfire I would go to Christian concerts with every Sat. night and went to church with on Easter Sunday. I remember that when I had split up with a girl I had been seeing, and it hurt me bad that time, Kelly showed up at the next IPW show, hugged me and said everything would be all right. The next time I heard anything from her was when a friend called to tell me she was gone.
This is a short update, but I can’t really write anymore right now.
