www.themvzone.com/videos/sb4/Tom&NickManiwaTalkSideshowWrestling&IPWSuperJuniorTournament.mp3Tom & Blank is back once again, as this time I sat down with the most nifty fellow in the entire world, one of my best friends, and the best independent wrestling sound engineer in history, Nick Maniwa! He took an indy wrestling voyage throughout central Indiana this past weekend which led him to Sideshow Wrestling in Nashville, IN and the Insanity Pro Best of the Super Juniors Tournament in Indianapolis (a show that included B-Boy, Ricochet, Flip Kendrick, Tom & _____ alumni Billy Roc, & Chuck Taylor, amongst others), so we talked about it. The discussion topics included crazy ladies in podunk towns who go to wrestling shows, modern mixed big person/midget tag matches, whether circus-themed wrestling could work as a niche ironic product in bigger cities, Super Chicken Tickets, show pacing issues, the importance of decent video production quality when trying to sell DVD's, B-Boy's hugs, and Swine Flu. Everyone else is, after all. 90+ minutes of friendliness and cleanliness! The archive for all the other shows, including Tom & Ken Talk IWA Pts. 1&2, the FSM show, and Tom & Billy Roc Talk Billy Roc, plus my absurd blog are at www.tomandblanktalkblank.blogspot.com

I love how Maniwa can talk so much sh!t about other feds and think that IWA is the greatest thing ever. You talk sh!t about IPW's cards so does that mean that IWA's are so perfect??? F*&k that. IWA has the worst booking of any fed on the Indies. And Tom WTF have you ever done for this business besides talk sh!t about people on your little "blogs"
As far as dvd quality I think it has gotten ALOT better lately. Plus IPW now is being flimed by the same film crew the films Pinks all out on Speedvision. They werent there this month because I guess the main guy had the swine flu. They were there in October when Kevin Thorne was there.

IWA has the worst booking of any fed on the Indies. And Tom WTF have you ever done for this business besides talk sh!t about people on your little "blogs" I guess we can't have opinions on anything? Did I say that IWA's booking was superior? Did I say IWA was the greatest thing ever? I don't know why people bring up IWA to me, like I have to defend every little thing they do. Why does Tom have to something in "da biz" to be able to comment on something? I thoroughly enjoyed the IPW show and I quite possibly will go back to another show, if something catches my eye. I didn't crap on the card. I didn't agree with some of the match placement and with having a giant 10 man tag for the semi main which was pretty long when the crowd was already dead. How good would a review be if you didn't comment on anything and just said everything was great? It's a wrestling review podcast, we didn't hold a gun to your head and make you listen to it. The negative things I did say were outweighed by all the positive things. Not a ton of people outside of Indiana know that IPW exists and if they do, they probably have never seen a show. I'm hoping that with this podcast, they'll take the chance and buy a DVD or a couple of them to check them out.

If the DVD quality has gotten better and there's maybe a youtube clip that shows that, they should definitely let people know.

Well with your negativity towards IPW's dvds how could you think people would want to buy them? Maybe your comments were meant differently than how they came off. I will give you the benefit of the doubt for that.

I honestly didn't see anything as overly negative about the show. There was a lot of constructive criticism, sure there were some "was that really necessary to say that" moments but the guys were just giving their opinion. Once again I thought the show was really well done and kept me interested for the whole hour and a half. And I was legit cracking up during the whole lady buying a kid a Chuck Taylor shirt for no reason story.
It's always good to see a different viewpoint from someone who's not always at the shows and to see things that could possibly be improved on. The only way that things will improve, not that I'm saying that they're bad at all, is for people to step up and see what they see is wrong with things in order to move forward.
Good show Tom and Nick, and guys, hopefully you make it back up to an IPW show somewhat soon.

If DVD quality has gotten better, maybe they will take the chance and buy one. There's been a lot of stuff that I've wanted to see from IPW and haven't check out cos from the clips I've seen, it's not the best looking. I only harped on the IPW DVD situation to hopefully get them to do something about it since they do have some great talent and great shows that nobody ever sees. I didn't mean any harm towards IPW with doing the podcast and I hope they don't feel any ill will towards myself or Tom. I popped in the Billy Roc comp they put out. The quality isn't bad but the camera work could be better. I'd suggest getting some like stability handles (if that's even what they're called) like SMV has, so the floor cam doesn't shake so bad. I put on the Davey Richards/Billy Roc match since that was the most recent on this DVD, I'm assuming and it looks fine, especially the hardcam. So I'll take back all my "a-hole" comments about the quality being terrible if that's the way things look now. Thanks to CRZ for the reply as well, .

I have yet to listen to the podcast. I plan on doing that tonight. But I welcome any and all critisim from all people, when it is done in a serious productive manner. I hope the intentions Nick had were directed in that fashion.
Over the years we have had some good shows filmed with bad cameras. DVD's seem to be a thorn in our side sometimes, and we are always trying to improve on them. We hope that the new film crew we ware working with will help us move in the right direction.
As far as Tom goes, unfortuantly I could care less if he ever came back to an IPW show. The guy has been to a few of our shows, and he has constantly ripped on IPW no matter what the situation is. I honestly feel we could book a show full of IWA guys, and some how the show would suck. Some people are hard to please. Obviously CZW and IWA like IPW and it's wrestlers. Most of each of their rosters at one point started in IPW first.
But to Tom and NIck, thanks for taking the time to talk about IPW, whether it be good or bad (As I have yet to hear it) we still got people to talk about us. NO matter what is said, we will move on and keep producing quality shows.

First I want to say , sorry I havn't listen to this just yet . And with it being said it a long 90 minute talk show , I do believe I would only go to sleep on it .
But now on to my point of view of this is : this is going to be good just for the FREE advertising for the IPW shows and getting that name of the product out to the wrestling fans that just maybe havn't seen or even hear of this promotion . So, with that said , I'm only going to say --THANKS ---to the two men on even putting together something that even has IPW to it so people can listen at just what ever your saying about this organization .
As , everyone knows is IPW has been around for 9 years but still are a young group to only can become better in the coming years to even be a whole lot better in this business of entertaining the wrestling fans with their shows . Plus it does take the fans & people with their own opinions to only give that help in building things better for this group that does listen to the people in the end. For they only show that they do listen to the comments of others & try to only do better in the end for putting together a show for the fans to watch each & every month . Again THANKS for even putting something together to talk about for IPW .
Now let's just look at this DVD thing ; In the last few years I have only watched as a few groups have came thru the doors to film the shows & some just have had some problems in putting out good quality ones with out problems . But now it does look like the group that is doing them now have been done right , for it has been some time now that anyone has got on here to say anything in a negative way about them .
Once again I'm going to say ; "thanks" to Tom & Nick for putting together a wrestling review and their comments on the Jr. show . I only can hope that both do return back to another show and maybe they can help in IPW 's growing in the business as they evaluate the shows . And hope that it leads to a better reputation for IPW & the wrestling fans .
Love it ...Hate it ...Disgree with anything ....I don't Care for that only wraps it up for myself !!

I listened to it. I like Nick Maniwa, the "hey girl" thing at the 2006 KOTDM still cracks me up. I think the "a-holes" comment was directed at the other guy, who went out of his way to be a jerk whenever possible. As far as what was said about the DVDs, the DVDs were rough, and I'd like to think have gotten progressively better since 10/08. The camera work has gotten better, they are better quality, and if I do say so myself the editing kills . Anyway, Nick has watched a lot of wrestling DVDs and any criticism on them I'm sure is much appreciated, I mean, that is how you improve such things. Look for a lot of new and improved things in IPW over the next year or so, we are coming off the heels of what may be the best IPW show ever, and we will continue to improve and build. Nick said a lot of good things about the wrestlers of IPW, and he's been ring side to watch some excellent wrestlers, and had the opportunity to learn from a lot of them about wrestling, so that speaks volumes to me. I think Dustin Rayz is gong to explode shortly. Another future star groomed in IPW.
