THE WWE's American TV network have issued an unprecedented retraction of their claims that Donald Trump had bought WWE Raw from Vince McMahon. USA Network and WWE had previously issued a Press release claiming the TV storyline was real which, as SunSport revealed on Tuesday, countless news outlets were duped.
WWE reps had even been joining in the fun. One told TVGuide.com that McMahon and Trump "are both great promoters, and (the sale) is as real as anything else in Donald Trump and Vince McMahon's world".
But after much debate, and uproar from the stock exchange, it was time for WWE to set the record straight.
The retraction stated: "USA Network and WWE issued a Press release on June 16 that referred to Monday Night Raw's storyline of a 'sale' of WWE's Raw to Donald Trump.
"We intended the release to be promotional for that ongoing story arc on the series.
"There is no such actual 'sale'. We apologise for any confusion."
Well, are you glad they cleared that one up then.

PWInsider is reporting that the ticket refund for last night's WWE Monday Night Raw taping in Green Bay, WI was legit as signs were posted around the arena giving the audience instructions on how to get their money back. For those seeking the refund who paid cash, you need to go back to the point of purchase. Those who paid through credit card will be automatically refunded.

As of early this weekend, the script for last night's WWE Monday Night Raw was not finished and the belief is that the decision to kill the angle of Donald Trump as the new owner of Raw was likely a last-minute situation reports The Figure Four Weekly Newsletter.
The original Trump storyline was scheduled to go much longer than one week, although the general feedback among mostly everyone in WWE was said to be negative about it in the first place. The announcement of Trump "buying" the show last week also didn't help matters as it didn't get the reaction Vince McMahon was said to be expecting.
The obvious goal with the storyline was an attempt to get some press, although very few media outlets picked up on the story last week and those that did ended up looking bad when they reported it as fact. This forced WWE and USA to issue an apology press release later in the week. Another problem was that after the mess that was created last week among the media, the company again hoped they would get picked up when it was announced that Trump was providing a full ticket refund to everyone attending the show last night in Green Bay. Of course almost no one picked up the story except for local media. The line right now is that WWE ended up buying themselves $230,000 worth of publicity and it probably wasn't worth it in the end.

The Pepsi Center and TicketMaster are parting ways and TicketHorse will be the arena's new sole official ticketing agent, effective July 1st, 2009. After the Denver Debacle happened, fans seeking refunds did not get all of their money back as they were forced to pay TicketMaster's processing fees with nothing to show for it. No word on if the Pepsi Center switching ticketing agents has anything to do with the Denver Debacle, but the timing is interesting ?
