WWE.com is reporting that Batista's injuries as a completely torn left bicep that will require surgery and keep him out of action for at least the next four months. The company storyline explaining the injury will be the angle on last night's Monday Night Raw with Randy Orton and Legacy attacking Batista. No official decision has been announced by the company regarding the status of the WWE Championship. Batista was scheduled for surgery today.

-- Batista is still officially WWE Champion as his "match" last night with Randy Orton was ruled a "No Contest," according to the Raw results page on WWE.com.
There was some confusion over the finish of last night's match as it was not made clear whether Batista forfeited his title by not appearing to face Orton.
Referee Mike Chioda was on his way to declaring a forfeit and awarding Orton the WWE Championship, but stopped his ten count at eight when an ambulance arrived in the arena, presumably with Batista inside. It was then revealed to be Triple H instead.

Yes, but he has HHH behind him here.
Holy batnuts batman. Where do I even begin here? Randy Orton has cut his teeth in that angle with Triple H leading up to Wrestlemania. At Backlash, Randy Orton finally got his reward for his awesome performance and became the WWE Champion. I thought that this was going to be a sign of a very long Randy Orton championship reign, and then Dave Batista returns, gets injured, and wins the championship, further killing off any remaining heat left over from Orton’s Wrestlemania loss. Where do they go with Orton from here without making it sound redundant and stale? I’m sure whatever they put in front of him, script-wise, will shine like gold with Orton behind the mic, but come on… seriously? Batista?

For those wondering why WWE made the decison to put the WWE Championship on Batista if they were aware he suffered an injury going into the Extreme Rules PPV, The Figure Four Weekly Newsletter is reporting that the company put a lot into building up a storyline of Batista chasing Orton all the way to their Steel Cage match at the PPV and Vince McMahon wanted a clean finish. So they decided they shouldn't have Batista lose again and they went with the clean finish on Sunday.
Batista is still being listed as WWE Champion by the company, but will be requiring surgery for what was confirmed as a completely torn left bicep that will keep him out for an estimated four months. WWE is promoting next week's three-hour Raw as the "3-For-All" where three championship defenses will take place involving the WWE Championship, WWE World Heavyweight Championship and ECW Championship. This obviously leaves the WWE Title defense in question with Batista scheduled for surgery.
The expectation is that an angle of some kind will go down on next week's Raw explaining the status of the WWE Title.
Comments "I really have no issues with how the WWE handled this has far has booking the title match is concerned. Personally I think it actually helped Orton more to have lost the title and then attack Batista at the start of Raw. "

I think it was really stupid to give Dave the title when he just got hurt before hand but maybe they set that up so HHH had room to come in and face Randy again. Also because in had Orton motive to attack Dave. Either way, Why WWE Why?!?!?!

Because the fed revolves around HHH, Batista, and John Cena. Also the fed has a bunch of writers on staff that have no clue about wrestling. I am not knocking any of the boys just the writing staff I mean WTF??

True if it didn't then maybe Edge would get alot longer title run and maybe Matt Hardy would win alot more intead of being pushed to the side. I know those two have talent and alot others but look at what they do to them.

As reported on earlier, Batista underwent surgery on his biceps today and is expected to be out of action for at least four months according to WWE. The Wrestling Observer/Figure Four Online reports that WWE might be interested in keeping him out of action slightly longer than that time frame which would put his return time to around January 2010 near the Royal Rumble PPV.

This past weekend, some people within World Wrestling Entertainment leaked a story to PWInsider.com saying Batista had suffered a biceps tear. Their story was later changed to a torn tendon in his left biceps and that it was not a full fledged muscle tear. The webmaster of his official website, www.Demon-Wrestling.com, soon acknowledged his injury, confirming it as a torn tendon. The webmaster wrote: "We originally thought Dave had a torn muscle (he's been hurt for around 2-3 weeks), but this has now been confirmed as a torn tendon." However, the official WWE website would say differently. According to their report concerning Batista's injury, he suffered a completely torn left biceps requiring surgery that will keep him out of action for at least four months — not a torn tendon. A full fledged muscle tear is much more serious than a tendon tear, so something's clearly not adding up. If he did indeed suffer a torn tendon like his official website is saying, the amount of ring time he would miss would be considerably less. Among some of the wrestlers, there has been plenty of skepticism over the true severity of his injury. The injury supposedly occurred over three weeks ago, but he had been working television, pay-per-views, and live events without any sort of tape on his arm whatsoever, let alone showing any signs of an injury. If the biceps tear was serious, and people within WWE are claiming it was serious enough for him to get surgery two days after his championship victory, it would certainly have been taped up. If the injury was not serious enough to require tape, one would think there would be no need for surgery. Even partially torn biceps injuries are taped up, but considering WWE is saying he suffered a full fledged muscle tear, it makes the severity of his injury all the more suspicious. At Monday's Raw in Lafayetteý, the wrestlers were told his injury was legitimate and he was having surgery the next day. However, the talk among wrestlers in the locker room is that his injury angle on Raw was a cover-up to have him avoid being suspended due to a violation of the company's drug testing policy. For what it's worth, Monday's show was re-written several times during the day and the creative team was given a list of wrestlers not to use for the foreseeable future prior to show time as a result of drug testing held earlier in the day and at shows over the weekend. WWE covering up a drug test failure with an injury would certainly be a major change of philosophy on how they handle their drug testing policy, and while things appear fishy, right now there is no concrete evidence indicating that has happened. ((Personal comment here: I don't know what to think anymore about this. Come on WWE!))
