As of July 1st, the Indiana general assembly voted to change the Indiana boxing commission to the Indiana state athletic commission and will govern boxing, MMA, shoot fight's, toughman AND PRO WRESTLING.

Once the commission meets in emergency session, you will more than likely see 99% of all indy wrestling organizations in Indiana go out of business because of the fees that will be imposed basically because they will not be able to afford them.

This is the list of TENTATIVE requirements that will be up for approval by the athletic commission...

Promoters license $1500 per year

Liability insurance will increase from 1 mil to 5 mil

There is a 5% fee off ticket sales to be collected that night

All wrestlers, referees, ring announcers and event staff will have to be licensed

a licensed physician and a police officer is to be on duty at the show

all wrestlers will undergo a mini physical including a pee test before each show

it will be the job of the promoter to report all workers and their license numbers at the show

All tickets have to be numbered and accounted for at the end of the night for settlement with the state agent at the show

All of these are tentative pending final approval of the Indiana GAMING Commission who is in charge of the finances of the athletic commission at an emergency meeting to set fees and dates for the athletic commission

There may be a very few organizations that survive but only a few.

If you are an independent wrestling fan in Indiana be prepared for whats to come

I have heard everyone from Greg Carey, Rob & Rodney Rush, Adam Simmons, Russ Ray, Diamond Dan, Randy Klemme, Rob Kincaid ectra opine about the problems in the Indy wrestling scene. It seems to me that one way or the other, this will solve just about every problem there is.


Basically this forces every Indy promoter to take things seriously and treat wrestling like a business instead of a hobby. Think about it, No more 370 .lbs slobs that can barely get in a ring! No more shows in front of 9 people in a bar somewhere. Do I need to go on? One way or another pro wrestlers in Indy will Deserve respect! the shaft will be cut away from the wheat.

How can this be a bad thing? Its just an expense of doing business.

I feel its a waste to keep typing. Not only do I think these are good regulations, but I wish Ohio had and would actually enforce them.

Obviously these regulations are geared more toward other sports but from every thing I've heard something desperately needed done and nothing was. This has to be better then nothing! Which is what it seems is exactly what the promoters would do if they had the choice. Well now they don't! After everything that was posted on page 1 of this thread how can anyone say that a higher power shouldn't regulate wrestling?
Trust me the ISAC is a much better option then an entertainment union.


Again this is just part of the price of doing business. Do you think Fire dancers or other entertainers who partake in dangerous actives don't have regulations to follow? Why should wrestling be treated any differently? There is danger that by the words of your own promoters and experts has been ingored.

Wow! No insults, no whinning! Does that mean you guys agree with me? What do the IPW owners think of this? It will be harder for you guys to do business but the wanna be's won't be able to load a show with wanna be's who work for free and sour the fans to wrestling.

I agreed with most of what you said, but I think it's been mentioned that the commission is not focused on wrestling at all for now.

The problem I think is that if the commission were to price everyone out of wrestling except for Vince, then it probably wouldn't be worth the cost of government to even have the commission oversee wrestling. Vince runs maybe 10 shows a year in Indiana (if that many). Even with that logic, I'm not sure how many MMA and boxing matches we have here to make this worth regulating.

The travel part of the job is definitely challenging, being entertainers as well as athletes definitely makes them unique.

Can you find out who many of those who claim to be wrestlers actually travel over 100 miles away from their homes? I'd love to know that info.
