WWE has updated their announcement regarding Rey Mysterio's suspension, noting it would begin Wednesday 9/2, so it appears Mysterio will work this Tuesday's Smackdown taping in order to drop the WWE Intercontinental championship. Mysterio is expected to be pulled from this weekend's house shows.
World Wrestling Entertainment announced that WWE Intercontinental champion Rey Mysterio has been suspended 30 days for violating the company's Wellness policy.
In accordance with WWE's Wellness Program, effective Wednesday, September 2, Oscar Gutierrez (Rey Mysterio) is suspended for 30 days for a violation of the company’s policy."
Update: With the suspension going into effect this Wednesday, it could setup Mysterio more than likely dropping the Intercontinental Championship at the Smackdown tapings on Tuesday in Cleveland, OH.

Jim Ross 'Hugely Disappointed' By Mysterio's Wellness Violation
Rey Mysterio's Wellness Violation: "I was hugely disappointed to hear of Rey Mysterio being suspended for violation of the WWE Wellness Policy. That's a real head scratcher but it will open the door for some young lions to take their game and the perception that goes with it to the next level including Dolph Ziggler and John Morrison just to name a couple."

He'll lose the title then Dolph will drop him through the announcers table and send him out on a stretcher like other storylines.
If the WWE is smart they'll use this opportunity to put Dolph up against Matt Hardy or John Morrison at Breaking Point so that he has an over face to work against and keep Finlay v. Knox in tact as an undercard bout.

I agree but I thought Dolph vs Finlay would be good. I understand though, for him to grow in WWE he needs to face Matt Hardy or John Morrison and any of them I wouldn't mine haven't as a champion. Infact they should just have Matt Hardy vs John Morrison next Smackdown. They could make it work out, think about it WWE.

Matt Hardy , just is more of a season experience talent then John Morrison at this time , and can teach more then two young guns going after each other right out of the box . But it would be a very good match-up at a later time to see maybe on a PPV show .
Plus Mysterio , is only going to be lost for only 30 days here , and on his return a match with Punk would be more interesting to see in a highflying match-up .
Plus both Dolph & Morrison are getting the big push, from WWE now in the storylines .

I would like to see Matt as IC champ but I'm think he is going for the bigger gold. World Heavy Gold is what I'm thinking he is looking for since his brother has left for the time being but for now yeah I think he should go for the IC title, atleast until Undertaker vs CM Punk gets done and over with. John Morrison is like a 3 time IC champ so he could win too but think with the win over CM Punk two times and their history he should go for World gold too.
We will see how it looks since Mysterio is out for awhile, gives the others some room to step up even more.

Despite WWE cracking down a lot on marijuana usage, The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that there are still many members of roster who have continued to smoke and rack up numerous $1,000 fines. As reported on earlier, testing positive for marijuana under WWE's Wellness Policy calls for a $1,000 fine and not a suspension. Many of the wrestlers who know full well they will test positive consider the fine more as a tax. The only people it has effected in a negative fashion are those on the undercard or midcard talent (one of which who was believed to be Brian Kendrick).

WWE Intercontinental Champion Rey Mysterio conducted an interview with the Record newspaper in Mexico commenting on the announcement of his 30 day suspension from WWE for violating the company's Wellness Policy. Mysterio said he was suspended for a drug he was using for his knee and arm that he has a prescription for. He added that due to him going on vacation and then being sent to the UK by the company to promote SummerSlam, he wasn't given word of his test failure until Wednesday and was told he had to provide the prescription record by Thursday. Mysterio said since he couldn't get them the prescription in time they then announced his suspension on Thursday.

As was reported on yesterday, WWE Intercontinental Champion Rey Mysterio spoke out about his 30 day suspension from WWE during an interview with the Record newspaper in Mexico. The Wrestling Observer/Figure Four Online is reporting that WWE was not happy with Mysterio doing the interview or the comments he made saying he had a prescription for the drug he tested positive for, but they suspended him anyway. Mysterio is slated to finish up at the Smackdown tapings on Tuesday before his suspension goes into effect on Wednesday.
COMMENT : "Rey mysterio will become the new member of the wwe retirement home known as TNA by end of 2010! mark that!"

Numerous WWE sources have noted there is a lot of heat within the company on Intercontinental champion Rey Mysterio for going forward and doing an interview with The Record in Mexico explaining his side of his recent WWE Wellness Suspension. There was an expectation within the company over the weekend that by speaking out of turn, Mysterio put himself in a position where the company has to punish him further (possibly a fine) or else risk someone else following suit in a similar situation.
Several sources I spoke to also felt Mysterio did the interview to build sympathy for himself in the Mexican market in the event that the situation leads to his WWE departure, since Mexico would be his most likely destination in that event.
Interesting to note that Mysterio did work the Smackdown house shows over the weekend, losing to World champion CM Punk. Mysterio was initially pulled from the house shows, a decision that was reversed when the company opted to start the suspension on 9/2 in order to finish Mysterio up off television at tomorrow's Smackdown taping.
Mysterio has told wrestlers who have asked that he had a legitimate prescription for a painkiller and that the company didn't give him proper notice and time for his doctor to give them details on his prescription. He's told several that he hopes the company will reconsider his case when he has a chance to speak to management personally on Tuesday. WWE has reversed at least one Wellness violation that I can think of, but not since they began the policy of announcing violations publicly.

source: www.f4wonline.com WWE officials held a meeting yesterday concerning Rey Mysterio's recent actions and how he will be creatively handled on television. As noted, there was much internal heat on Mysterio for his Spanish-language interview with The Record in Mexico over the weekend. He did not get the interview approved ahead of time, which is standard company protocol. There was talk that if they didn't punish him, fellow talent could follow suit and bury the company in the future. Back in the WCW days, talent would frequently bury the company without consequence. Unlike WCW, WWE prefers not opening themselves up to that, hence the need for interviews to be approved of. Whether Mysterio thought he could do a Spanish-language interview to explain himself to fans and potential sponsors in Mexico without it ever reaching the United States remains unknown. Regarding creative plans for Mysterio dropping the Intercontinental title at tomorrow night's SmackDown taping, Vince McMahon wanted all potential options evaluated. More than likely, it will not be as simple as Dolph Ziggler beating him in a singles match. In fact, because that is the "expected result," you should expect something different to take place on this week's show. However, it likely won't be different enough for it to result in Mysterio not dropping the title. Mysterio is hopeful he can get his suspension overturned when he discusses the situation with management tomorrow.

According to a report by ProWrestling.net, Vince McMahon held a teleconference meeting over the weekend with Stephanie McMahon and the lead creative team writers. During this meeting, Vince made it very clear that he was not happy with the comments made by Rey Mysterio to the Mexican media regarding his 30 day suspension from the company that he called "unjust." The buzz backstage at last night's Raw taping in Detroit was that Vince was considering the idea of sending a very strong and stern message via the way he writes Mysterio off TV at the Smackdown tapings tonight. Many scenarios reportedly have been discussed for tonight to air on Friday regarding Mysterio's exit, for now, from WWE. One WWE source added, "Right now it's looking like either a quick smash up or a more humiliating exit."

At last night's WWE Smackdown tapings in Cleveland, John Morrison defeated Rey Mysterio to become the new WWE Intercontinental Champion. This will air on Friday night setting up a Morrison vs. Dolph Ziggler title match at the Breaking Point PPV on Sunday, September 20. Congrats to John Morrison! New Champ! That should be a great match for Breaking Point! I like both Ziggler and John, I think they are the future of WWE! {Oh course WWE could be better with IPW talent!}
